Subject: Power window motor remove / install
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

After procrastinating through the summer and into the cold part of the year, Virginia's annual inspection finally forced me to fix the driver side power window. In the process I found a couple things that I didn't see in the archives. Hopefully, I'll be able to find this info for next time!

After pulling all the screws and wedging the window, the bently says to 'pull the window guide back while removing the motor'. I found that to get it to move I had to push the guide towards the outside of the door and then towards the rear of the door. Good.

For the life of me, however, I couldn't get the motor out of the door. Then I noticed two things: there was a plastic cover over the door limiter strap which when removed gave me much more room, and the studs on the gearbox come off easily. Once I did those two things I could slip the assembly up into the door and then out the opening.

The rest of the process was similar to other posts I've read in the archives, except my motor had two star screws holding the cover on and that was the only part of the motor that could be disassembled. This is on a 90 Carat.

Does anyone have a source for these motors?

john
