Ben, When vw bleeds you van they want you to go away with a completely air free system. They do not want you to return with an overheating van or to have to add coolant. On the otherhand when you do the work yourself you can remove most of the air and live with a small amount while you check it on your short drives. I prefer to point the van downhill myself but I really think it makes absolutely no difference as long as you get most of the air out and add coolant later on when the coolant tank looks a little low after your short drives and after it has cooled down. gary Hey Gary, I tend to agree with you overall, but this is something that VW themselves say to do (raising the front). I always thought it was a matter of getting an uphill slope on the hoses to the radiator, but maybe I'm missing something? tx, bmc :) Ben McCafferty ben@volkscafe.com
