Does it sound kind of like "La Cucaracha"? That's the master warning, seat belts, lights on later cars. My '98 Jetta had the same thing. To disable it, look on the relay panel for a relay-like box with a small speaker grill facing out, and yank it out. No other function, nothing else is affected, but the mariachi band goes away.
