The fuses do not have to be pulled to be checked. A small meter or light probe will reach the contact point in the top of each fuse. There are two so both contact points can be checked. As with many things in the VW electrical system fusing for the dash lights is an after-thought. It is a 10 amp fuse, located in a clip on holder on top of the fuse box. It has grey/blue wires connecting to it.

Hey Volks,

Would anyone know of an online reference to 1986+ fuses and identification? I don't own a Bentley, and my original owner manual was stolen.

I'd love to know, if there is a simple chart or photo reference online where users can idea their Vanagon fuses. I need to check a specific fuse, and would love to know which one it is, rather than pulling them all.

I'm looking for the fuse for the dash lights.

Thanks, Neil
