I just got back from my local Tire Warehouse (New England discount tire chain). Upon the buying the '87 Syncro last weekend I had gone down there to see what they could get me. Looking in their fitment book yielded the typical Michelin Agilis for $109. A call to the their distributor came up with a private label tire called Capital. It is a 185R14, 8 ply rated "D" load range, 102/100P load index, 1875 lbs. @ 65 psi LT tire. Made in Korea. The shop told me it should be good for about 40K. It does not have a M+S rating, but it looks to be a nice open (but not overly aggressive) tread design. The best part was the price... $63 each, $7.50 for mounting and balance, $2 to take the old tires. I'll let ya'll know how they handle in the snow and wet over the course of the rest of this winter... For those in New England who are in need of tires, we might be able to get a bit better price if we do a group purchase... I am located in Amherst, NH JonR |
