I have found on my '84 that 4th gear sounds a bit like smooth metal, hopefully lubed, quietly rubbing together. When I take the knob and move up and over to the right again it quiets down. Any experience with that? I chalked it up to your quite funny diagnosis below and decided to focus my efforts elsewhere for fear of "adjusting" it to a worse state. Otherwise it does the job it was designed to do. If it is doing damage then I guess I will attack the adjustment. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stan Wilder" Subject: Re: stick lube
