If you really want to have a syncro/sunroof, I would suggest you to go this route: cut the syncro and the donor sunroof at the window pillars. This is the easiest route to go. Why? A sunroof van has a double roof to acomodate the sliding roof in between like a sandwich... Any bodyshop can do this kind of work. It's a piece of cake for them. That's what they wanted to do with my van, but i could not go this route because the raingutters of the donor van were totally rusted. See my van in this web site http://www.westfalia.be.tf/ then you go on the menu and under the title "projet" you clic on "Quoi? Comment?" and you will see a grey vanagon with a hole on its roof... If I wanted to unbolt (if possible like a beetle) the shell of my sunroof Vanagon and put it on a Synco rolling frame (if I could find a good doner frame) what am i getting involved it. Seems like a better alternative in theory then converting the drivetrain, but I haven't really taken a good look underneath my Vanagon to see if it can be done. Anyone have any thoughts?
