In a pinch, I have been known to roll my own by carefully dressing oversized brushes with a file to fit the application at hand. If you can't find a direct replacement quickly enough, go to an old-style hardware or electrical shop and ask to look through their assortment of carbon brushes. Get some brushes which are at least as large as you need and which have the leads attached to the proper surfaces. Then, clamp a second cut file in a vise and file the brushes until they have the same cross-section as the worn out ones. But, only go through this exercise if time or circumstance won't allow any other route. George |
