my friend here in Victoria is putting a high mount stop light into his '82 Westy. The crazy guy thought it would be "neat" to have it mounted on the rear face of the pop top. He bought an rectangular-oval 6 LED unit from a trucking supply place (on Keating X road for any interested locals). He cut a corresponding hole in the pop top but when he inserted the LED unit it, of course, faced back with a 15 degree or so upward tilt. That bugged him so he formed a mounting bracket the orients the LED horizontally. When I last saw it a couple of days ago, he was fairing and smoothing the bracket to use as a male plug for a mold so that he can make the final version out of fibreglass. The other "gotchya" he discovered was how to route the wires from that location to the taillight harness. We looked a a few options and decided on one approach, I don't know if he has done the drilling yet. I'll takes pics when its done.
