Mike, about the only way to solve this problem is to pull the cylinders and break the glaze on the surface by honing them. You could reuse the existing rings but I wouldn't recommend it, as they are probably glazed as well. But should you decide to do so, check the ring end-gap clearance byremoving the rings from the piston, then pushing the ring down into the cylinder with the piston until it is about where it would be towards the top of the stroke. That will give you the minimum end-gap clearence. Check with a feeler gage to see if the end gap is still good. If not, replace the ring. If more than one is out, replace them all.
