Pretty poor, you ask me -- but if the original premise is correct that the airflow is dropping dirt there, one might just get some trace of lube there too, which might just possibly alleviate the situation for a week or three. Even so, not sure the game is worth the candle...strike that, pretty sure it's not unless you have a spare heater box in good shape lying around.

Well lessee...the atomized oil is no doubt flammable. The propellant these days is likely to be either CO2 or butane or a butane/propane mix -- could get pretty interesting if you managed to reach the LEL...might save taking off the dash. At the very least trying to light the spray under controlled conditions (like we used to do with cans of Right-Guard lo these many years ago) might provide either reassurance or singed eyebrows...

Doubt it...more likely to degrade the plastic bits, maybe the seals and such if any are left. And maybe make the windshield oily...

No -- but what Frank's suggesting wouldn't obstruct the flow, just keep it from getting to a particular third of a square inch where the end of the motor shaft is exposed. I'm not sure it will help, but pretty sure it won't hurt anything if the shaft doesn't get all gummed up with adhesive. That's the one part that I think might make useful sense and not likely to cause a problem, assuming it stays put and doesn't get sucked through the blower.
