Subject: cylinder # layout, rear heater q
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi Everyone,

A stupid question: what is the layout of the cylinder #'s? I.E. #1 is driver's side front, #2 is d.s. rear, etc. I have the firing order from the Bently but couldn't find the layout if it's there, may just be overlooking it. Actually a reality check on that would be great too.

And if that weren't enough, what are the common failure points for the rear heater? Mine was bypassed before I got my Vanagon, and I want to know what to look for before hooking it back up. The motor spins freely and strong at all speeds, so I think it's a leaker. I have a used one from an '89 that I can use for parts or swapping, but again would like to know the common problems and any tests I should try first.

Thanks in advance, Gregory Smith '84 Vanagon Olympia, WA
