I've been running in a newly rebuilt air cooled engine on my new fools version of an engine stand. I plumbed up the heater boxes with old vacuum cleaner hose and I now have the worlds largest, most complex and expensive hand warmer. The first run was at 2000 rpm for 15 minutes. The engine didn't get warm enough to drop the oil pressure gauge off of 5 bar at 900 rpms, so I ran it in another 20 minutes and the oil finally got hot. I changed the oil, filter and cleaned the strainer. Found that wonderful metallic designer oil I was expecting. I recharged the new filter and squeezed in 4 quarts of 30 wt oil from their plastic containers. That 30 wt looks like STP when it gets down to about 30 degrees (f). I'm still using that (f) so you Canadians don't think Texas is in the Arctic. I ran the engine another two hours at 2000 rpms ............. tachometers with hour meters are nifty things for this, glad I got one. I can't do any bragging about fuel economy, darn thing hasn't moved an inch on three gallons of gas. I can't feel my feet when I jump up and down but my hands are nice and toasty warm. By the way ................ One rebuilt CV Vanagon engine for sale. Long block complete. Time to put my toys away and take a nap.

Its 33 degrees (f) here in Dallas

15 here in Pa.. went out to the van last night and opened the hatch and the damn thing stuck open....couldnt close it..had to fumble to remove it with numb fingers and a key and lots of 4 lettered words to close it..you lose motor dexterity at those temps.. ..one of the hatch struts froze up.. quite the opposite of what usually happens.. on a side note, afterwards it was rather interesting (NOT) the phenomenon when my fingers were the same color as my van (blue) color coordinated! due to lack of coordination.. chris in pa where it's "effin cold"
