Freeholder is oh so right! Mulberries in winter!e This morning I went out to the garage to check on the '87 Westy for any problems resulting from this frigid Arctic blast weather that we are in. I happened to look over at the frozen Koi pond and listened to its gurgling recirc water somewhere under the seven inch thick mantle of ice; making sure the pump was running and the ice was open a little for O2 exchange... Strange mulberries laying all around the edge of the opening in the ice.

The eight cardinal pairs that I have been feeding for my neighbors (while they are away in the relatively warm South) have left what appear to be "mulberry" turds all around the very small hole in the ice.

At least it is a little comfort to know that when these northern birds poop on our vans' windshields up here in the North that (for now) the stuff will just bounce off!
