It shouldn't hurt anything that isn't in bad shape already. Just make sure you get all of the old coolant out. The Haynes manual's method of flushing the Vanagon cooling system calls for disconnecting the main coolant lines at the thermostat housing and coolant distributor and backflushing the radiator from that point, something the Bentley manual fails to mention. If you don't do this, you can leave over a gallon of old coolant in the system. Mixing old and new coolant is a bad idea, made even worse if you have the corrosive cleaners left in it, so make sure all of the old stuff out.
