I've got 4 different books/manuals that cover rebuilding TypeIV engines and have rebuilt 2 of these motors personally. I've never read about or seen an oil thrower on these engines.

Everything I've read says keep the lifters in their original bores because of the individual wear pattern.

I think well-installed original equipment tubes are just fine. They certaily don't go flying off and probably leak as little - or as much - as more complicated types.

Hmmm... The large end of the connecting rod takes a split bearing - one in each shell - while the small end of the rod takes a pressed-in bushing. It sounds like you're doing all this without benefit of a manual.
