Subject: choking conversion
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

to vanagoners,

I bought a vanagon last summer that's got a converted engine in it. I'm not actually sure what the engine is. It's an inline four with fuel injection, and I was told it was either a golf or rabbit engine between 80 and 92.

I was driving it along at one point when it suddenly lost all ooomph. All the power in the engine just died, I was able to putt putt home at five miles an hour. My first thought was there was some kind of a fuel clog, because no matter how depressed the accelerator was, it still didn't go any faster. It actually seemed to choke and die. I have since checked the fuel pump, it works, the fuel lines have been pulled and cleaned or replaced, so there is no clogs. Fuel filter replaced twice. Fuel injectors traded out. Still the car is not happy running. Hard to start up, but it will idle, but if I try to go anywhere, it dies again. I've also replaced coil and spark plug wires, and I have a new distributor and rotor. I'm at a loss as to what to do next, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jessup
