If you want heat you first need to see if all of the heater parts are installed and working right. Test your heater at about 30 mph and after 15 minutes you should be getting max heat. Vanagon had various heater configurations and you need to decide which you got. #1) Left side blocked on the front door post air duct, common on Westy. #2) Right side blocked on the front door post air duct, common on vehicles with no rear overhead heater ducts on the right side. #3) Both sided blocked on the front door post. Only rear heat is through bottom floor rear facing duct. #4) Two, Three or Four levers on the Dash. #5) Levers on the dash but no heater blower switch. Try reading the users manual and then its often just luck or going to Hayes, Bentleys for instructions on adjustments to the flaps.
