The EGR light means that you are supposed to take your Vanagon to the dealer, drop your pants and give them $120.00 Since you came to me about it. Resetting EGR Sender EGR is triggered by mileage, not by anything wrong with the motor. I believe that it is set to come on every 30,000 miles or so. If you climb under your van from the drivers side in front and look up you will see the speedometer cable looping down from above. Along the cable is a smallish black box. This is the EGR trigger. Somewhere on this box is a recess that has a small button that you can push with a pin/pencil tip/straightened paper clip. This will reset the counter and turn off your light. As for what is required maintenance at this time....I haven't a clue Stan Wilder On Thu, 30 Jan 2003 13:42:23 -0800 ed maikranz <fasteddy64@YAHOO.COM> writes: > The EGR light in my 81 Vanagon came on today. > > what does that mean? > what should I do about it? > > Thanks, > Ed Maikranz > Abilene, TX > > __________________________________________________ > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
