Hi Matt,
The Vanagon pump wont work with a CIS system, not enough pressure. You
will have to spring for a CIS pump, as it will put out the required 75 to 90
lb's of working pressure. You will also need the accumulator, as well as all
the parts on the engine, control pressure regulator, auxiliary air
regulator, cold start valve, thermal time switch, etc, for the system.
Sounds like you need a donor Rabbit or maybe a Jetta, etc to rob all the
parts from. Also you will need to know if the fuel system has a "Lambda" (
02 sensor) system or not, and match all the parts to the same. Look in a
Bentley there is a good picture of the system.
Good luck, let us know how it runs. I did this to my 82 "EX" Diesel
Camper, I love it!!!!!
Regards
Howard
