heres what i did to put the audi rims on a vanagon. Just about any 5 lug audi rim will work (with the following mods) as they are all 5x112 (except for the brand new audiTT) and 5x112 is the same bolt pattern as the vanagon. any year will work, starting with the '81 5000 turbo, on up thru the mid 80's 5000 turbo, all 5 bolt quattros, 200's, 100 series from '92-95, A4, A6, A8, etc.. i machined all hub centers of audi wheels to 2.5" ID. (i had machine shop do it at 10 bux a piece, they even machined my audi wheels so i could use the vanagon carat center caps on them as the audi centercaps most likely wont work after the centers are machined) i used the longer audi lugbolts up front (which syncros dont have) i used 8mm spacer up front. (try the audi wheels on your van to see how close the fronts come to the control arm, and space out accordingly) i put longer studs from Porsche 911 on the rear (or chevvy truck studs work too) tap studs out of stub axle, not hard once drum is removed) thats it on syncro i dont think you need spacers up front tho im not sure.. i never owned a syncro. no spacers are needed on the rear weather it be 2wd or 4wd and technically you dont even have to put longer studs on the rear either..the bolts grab like 3/4 which is plenty. i drove my van like that for a while w/ the stock studs, tho i just put longer studs on the rear eventually to be politically correct. :<) ask bennyT the bay area wheelman for any info on wheel studs/spacers, he probably has good sources and im sure he'll correct any mistakes i made in this posting anyway :<) chris
