I seem to recall the 83 has a different size intake hole on the gas tank from the 82 and 80, Don't know about later models. Unless it is just a different nozzle and grommet.

i cant but you can.. it'll fit fine. vanagon gas tanks are universal from 80-91 except syncro. hopefully its not rustier than the 84 one.. chris
