Subject: diesel-gas conversion problems solved! (mostly)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I tracked down a vacuum leak on my diesel-gas conversion today - bad intake manifold gasket. I put a new one in, torqued the bolts to spec., and went for a drive. About half way around the block, another leak started up again. I haven't pulled the manifold to check if its blown again, but I suspect it has.

I'm thinking it could be a couple of things; 1) I didn't retorque the manifold bolts after warming up the vehicle, 2) I damaged the gasket during installation, 3) the manifold itself is slightly warped, or 4) aliens.

If it is warped, any suggestions? Do people use RTV or some such with a gasket? If anyone has a procedure for doing intake manifold gaskets on an I4, I'd be happy to hear it. As you can tell, I'm making this stuff up as I go...

Matt
