My 2 cents worth: after 20 years of making my living fixing German cars, I personally, avoid Brazilian and Mexican replacements parts when possible. The more expensive European parts fit better and, in my opinion, are higher quality.

This point was hammered home recently. A 2.1 WBX that I rebuilt a few months back had an intermittent lifter noise. When I rebuilt this motor, the only lifters my parts house had in stock were Brazilian. Against my better judgment, and due to time constraints, I used the Brazilian lifters. 600 miles, two oil changes and two valve adjustments later, I took the top-end apart and put in German lifters. No more problems.

I should've known better...

JMHO.

Cheers,

Jeff
