Subject: no vanagon content-monte carlo help
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi everyone,

Whereas I love VW's, my boyfriend is into Monte Carlo's. I found the exact one that he wanted (a 80's SS, w/ a T-top), but it's in pretty hurt condition. The exterior is just mainly surface rust, but the interior is gonna need a pretty good go over. It's not running at the moment, because of the wiring harness melting and starting a minor electrical fire which probably fried the computer too. It does have the original rims. I offered the guy $500.00 for it. I dunno how long it's been sitting for, but I guess he's moving, so thats why he has to sell it. I'm in automotive school right now, so fixing it up would make a nice project for me, and a nice gift for my boyfriend. The rust and body work I can have the bodyshop at school fix. But my problem is that upon looking for a computer and wiring harness is difficult. I don't really know where to look unlike VW's. The computer thru the dealer is like $170, which means elsewhere it must be less. The harness thru the dealer is unavailable. I haven't purchased or put a deposit on the car yet. I was hoping that someone could give me some tips, ideas, or know where to look for these parts............

thanx,

Tracy
