Carfax can not detect all cases of fraud. So what? Bulletproof vests can't prevent all cases of gunshot wounds either but cops still use them. Sure, a skilled and determined attacker could aim for parts not covered and reduce the effectiveness. Carfax has exposed many frauds and errors. A clean report is not a guarantee but a dirty one is very handy to have beforehand. How about picking apart the specific case at hand? A single owner for the life of the vehicle, hard to fake out Carfax on that one I should think. Low miles on a Calif reg'd vehicle subject to biannual smog checks, does Carfax get that data? Don't know. Mark
