thanks everyone who gave me tips on sprucing up the 85. i haven't been able to respond sooner as our internet line has been on and off (mostly off) for a week or so. life is rugged here in the big bend. stan sent a paper he had written on how to take care of your just-bought vehicle. that and the fact that i've been getting some leaks from the engine area (looks like very clean oil- could it be brake fluid?) makes me think i should take her in for a physical. does anyone know of a good vw repair place in the el paso area? there's a dealer there, but i'm not sure that's how i'll go if there's an alternative. i have been to the las cruces dealer (about the broken faucet) and wasn't impressed. they told me it'd take $68 to diagnose the problem. i said, hey, i just want a new faucet. do you have one? they said ok, $34 to diagnose. at which point i left. thanks for any help you can give me. midland/odessa and even lubbock are within my range too. mary
