My 5 year old daughter is my "shop mate" every time I am under the bus (or
other VW), she knows how to read a metric socket, the difference between
3/8" and 1/2" drives and just loves the breaker bars, especially the 24"
1/2" drive she can barely lift.
Last week given the choice between going to grandma's to play (dress up and
such) she opted to stay with Dad and help him work on the Jetta, she wants
to be riding in it again singing "zoom, zoom, zoom..." from the back seat. We
still have to work on the color choice thing tho, she wants a pink jetta
when she turns 16.

It only gets gets better, Matthew. Two years running, my son has replied
that "Workin' on the van" is his favorite activity when asked by his
pre-school teacher. This is documented with his handprints, footprints and
photograph on the "growth" posters he's made. He's excited and probobly
will be difficult to put to bed tonight because we are going to change the
transmission filter and ATF tomorrow. I have fond memories of changing the
oil with my Dad...
BTW, will I find a round or square filter when I drop the pan... I've got
both, so place your bets.
