I take it to mean that these head seals are to be replaced without renewing the O-ring at the base of the cylinder sleeve. How foolish. We all know that anytime an O-ring is disturbed, it should be replaced, especially if it has seen such severe duty at such a critical task. Even if it were possible to remove a head without dislodging the cylinder sleeve from its seat, the bottom O-ring will still have been disturbed because it will have been relieved of its preload.
