Because nothing mathematical is ever created by mere humans, only discovered, I believe Mathematics to be the language of God. And as such, there is a unique function which describes your shell. All you have to do is find that function and apply a triple integration to it. Simple, isn't it? Sure! You can APPROXIMATE it by considering the form to be that of a cylinder capped by two appropriate sections of a sphere. Using that approach assumes that the end caps were accurately formed into spherical sections to begin with and it ignores the radiused corners where the caps join the cylinder. So, you venture farther into the realm of assumption and approximation. I would rather take the advice of a wise man and measure how much water it holds. Probably, the next topic should be how to desiccate a wet LP tank.
