You probably burned up the ground connection. It is located above the fuse box. All the headlights share a single ground crimp. As an alternate fix, make a new ground connection near each light. Ring crimp and a sheet metal screw connecting the brown wire to the chassis.

I have problems with the headlights. No headlights or highbeams. Indicator lights, rear lights, flashing lights are working. Switching on the headlight switch turns on the high beam indicator light. A new headlight switch and ignition switch did not change the condition. Applying 12 volts directly (w/o headlight switch and the original wire disconnected) to fuse #4 (common in for left and right headlights) turns the marker lights on and the headlights dimmly glow. Additionally the high beam indicator light comes on. The same effect by putting 12 V directly on fuse #6 (common in for left and right highbeams). Marker lights are turning on, the headlights (highbeam part?) are dimmly lit and the high beam indicator light is on again. I need help. Any suggestions? This is a '81 model. -- Karl '81 Westy "Jenny" Wilmington, DE
