Hi Everyone, I need a little advice. Well yesterday was my lucky day. I borrowed a friends dads truck to get some fire wood and saw he still had her vanagon sitting in the front yard with a for sale sign on it so I ask him about it thinking I would help him try to sell it. So he goes through the whole spiel rebuilt avp with 7k with new clutch alt starter fuel pump injectors steering rack ect pretty much new everything. Then he painted it and on the way back from his buddies body shop it lost second gear my friend got pist now hates VW's so dad had to try to sell it. Now he has over 3400 into tried to sell it all last year refused offers for 2k 1200 ect tells me he wants like 600 and he will throw in the extra set of rims for it so I have to say sold. So now my question is should I even bother fixing the tranny or just part it out it does not seem like ac passenger vans are worth that much but it has no rust and perfect inside and all new paint. Is it bad to part such a great van? Should I just pull out the sawzall and add a pop top is it really hard to do? My westy does have some rust back corner is not straight, but I just rebuilt the top end and have pored lots of money into it but most of it could be removed. I have to get my van collection back down to one or my land lord will have me living in a van down by the river. Thanks Kevin 80 Westy 81 Vanagon :)
