Hi, I have an 85', they are probably in the same area, but I dunno for sure...... Unscrew the fuse panel, and pull it down. Directly behind the fuses on the same panel you will see a row of little square plug boxes. These are the relays. I think the 2nd one in is the load reduction relay. They just pull out and plug back in, just like a plug in a outlet. I had to fight with mine to get it out the first time because VW puts some sort of glue or sealant in with it. Was a pain, now it's easy. The whole thing should only take a good 5min to finish. have fun, Tracy 85' GL "Ripple" Karl Ploessl <ploessl@SUNMAC.SPECT.UPENN.EDU> wrote:where is the location of the "load reduction relay" in a '81 Westy?
