Cheaper?? Just wait till you forget it is there or someone else does and you tweak the rear hatch out of shape. I see big $$$$ signs.

Just buy new struts and be done with it. Don't be penny wise and pound poor.

I used the PVC solution and almost ruined my door. Good only for a temporary fix and a trip to the parts store in my opinion.
