Unfortunately, it isn't quite that simple.  The wires route along the air duct above the sliding door, above the passenger door, and finally down the front pillar where they join the wires going to the left front speaker.
What you'll find is a full-sheathing that is clipped into place by these little aluminum crimpy stick-ums above the sliding door.
You'll want to get a little phillips screwdriver and remove the air duct panel above the sliding door (and i think there is a second panel adjacent to the cabinet you kind of have to slide out, too).  Your cause will be aided by loosening part of the headliner panel, also.
After you remove/loosen all these, and unclip those little aluminum dudes, now you can do the whole tie a wire/string to the bundle and pull it down through the pillar.  After that, it should be easy enough.
This is really quite an easy wiring upgrade (i too upgraded the head unit and ran into popping speakers as the volume was turned up - common ground to the speakers overloading amp in head unit, apparently).
