Happy Friday Folks.

Has anyone ever spilled fish sauce in their Westy? I once spied a Westy at a local repair shop which was decent looking enough. However, as I passed the van, I noticed a foul but vaguely familiar odor. It was FISH SAUCE!!!!!!!

The lady who owned the van must have enjoyed the stuff on her "pho" or some other some such cuisine. Eeither that or she was looking to perform some vengeful deed on her worst enemy. It was so foul that nobody in the shop was willing to work on it. IIRC the work order asked for suggestions on how to get rid of the smell.

Some suggestions came up like squeezing lemon or other citrus products on the spilled areas. That's how the smell is sometimes neutralized by those who use the stuff on food. Others suggested Fabreeze. I'm not sure how effective that was. Ultimately, the van left with it's offending aroma intact.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of this smell? I don't know if it matters but it may have been Austrian fish sauce if there is such a thing..... OK maybe the Austrian connection is just a FISH story. However, the rest is is all true.

BTW, if you've ever wondered how they make FISH sauce, I'll be happy to explain it to you as I saw how it was done at a fish sauce factory in Asia. Send me a pmail with the words "FISH SAUCE" in the subject line. Or even is you just want to know how the stuff can be effective used to calm down a crack adddict having a fit.
