Volks,

A recent posting on WetWesties reminded me of this issue.

What's the right way to go for insurance coverage, "Normal" Policy with complete Documentation or a "Replacement Value" Policy with complete Documentation and appraisals?

Sample vehicle ... 1990 Westy Syncro

1. Normal Coverage Policy:

- $500 deductible

- Rental Car Coverage

- Reasonable levels of liability, comp etc. (sorry don't have specific value info with me)

Cost Estimates : $600-800 per year (AZ Resident)

Note:

Full Documentation Package Available. - Receipts for all renovation, rebuild and modifications - Photos of Everything

2. Replacement Value Policy:

I have met with a few Insurance companies about providing a "Replacement Value" Policy.

Requirement:

- Receipts for all renovation, rebuild and modifications

- Independent Appraisals

For estimating the insurance quote I suggested they use a $30k replacement value

Cost Estimates : $2500 - 3000 per year (AZ Resident)

Big difference in cost.

What's the right way to go?

Your Point of View?
