My comment about getting a pit bull was mainly to point out that these days it seems that one needs an "Intimidator" around to deter thieves.

All animals are....animals! And there is "always" a certain unpredictability about them no matter what we think about them.

In my own experience Pit Bulls are very loving animals, love children, get uuset when a child is seemingly in distress, are protective of what they percieve as their family or their turf. Make great pets.

On the other hand, I have see pit bulls that were obviously trained to be dangerous. And that is to bad that people do that to the breed.

But even so, all animals are unpredictable. Most deer run from people in the wild., but in my region a man was attacked and skewered to a tree by a Buck whitetail deer. Family pets have attacked their owners for no understandable resaon - at least human understanding. Who knows what the pet thought.

There is always a risk with any animal we keep as pets or protectors.
