Steve, Not a dumb question if you aren't used to a Vanagon and have no owners manual. The fill for the front washer fluid is down by the driver's left foot. Just pull the edge of the carpet up a little and you will see it. Now wait until you have to put brake fluid in - you wont believe where that is (behind the speedo) Jeff Lincoln 85' Vanagon GL
