Re-greased and put new boots on the CV's today - took me about 4 hours. Does it take everyone this long, or am I the slowest mechanic in the west? Also, has anyone out there ever actually felt the difference between newly-packed CV's and old ones while the van is driving, or am I imagining things? I am not imagining the fact that I don't hear that "click, click, click" when I make tight turns at low speed anymore. Drove to the YMCA to pick up my daughter from a birthday party - must have been Vanagon day at the Y. Counting my van, there were two standard Vanagons, two Westfalias and one Country Homes Vanagon conversion in the lot.
