Good Morning All! I am a relative newbie to the List, but have found that this forum ROCKS!!! I am humbled by the vast knowledge of some very dedicated VW gearheads. I have had my 84 Westy (185k) for a little over a year and am looking at some major work. She was running well, 21-23 mpg. Right after I had the clutch done, my head began to weep. I've decided to go the Tiico route as my cooling system is a mess. I just had a few questions before I leap.
1. Is it a good idea to have my MT rebuilt while I have everything apart? 2. I know there was some discussion of exhaust failures/mods with the Tiico. I have read through some of the vast archives, but can someone point me in the direction of a general consensus as to a solution to this shortcoming? I know there was mention of a Golf/Jetta 6 bolt bellows... 3. Any other parts I should replace? My Bosch starter is only a year old and I was thinking of a rebuilt alternator. I will be getting vanagain's fuel rail kit for the conversion. 4. Lastly, any Tiico owners with comments about anything they would have done differently? Any feedback about their satisfaction with the conversion? I will be having an authorized installer do the work as I am an automoron. I apologize if my questions cover any already discussed topics. Thanks in advance to everyone with comments/suggestions. It is greatly appreciated in my quest to rejuvenate my Transporter for another 200k! Best Regards and Safe Travels, Hieu Nguyen 1984 Westy "MJ" currently in cold storage-Mifflintown, PA
