I think the two critical guages for a more or less stock syncro are oil temp and trans temp. WBX owners with oil temp gauges report temps start to creep up around 3900-4000 rpm. I'd like to know exactly where this happens in specific situations so I could back off a bit. This engine heat rise is not reflected in the water temp gauge, and BTW syncros already have one, so why add another? I don't tthe specific temp reading, just relative position of the needle in varying conditions. Heat is clearly a problem for these transmissions, so you should have a way to get an idea what is normal now, and then if it gets higher in a specific situation, back off a bit and take it easy.
