How about bicycling? We have to admit the Vanagons are not the cleanest vehicles in the world--my Vanagon pollutes at least 100 times what my '96 Passat GLX VR6 does. And the Vanagon passed its latest emissions test three years ago in Metro Atlanta To compensate, I have a 1998 Jamis Coda (bicycle) and a pair of feet and I now live in a town it's possible to walk many places when it's not bitterly cold (and even sometimes when it is). Iowa City, Iowa. How many others of us combine serious (bi)cycling with their Vanagon ownership? Donald Baxter '85 Vanagon GL with 214,000 miles (that gets driven about 4,000 miles a year) |
