What did he do - remove the rear seat and make it a mid engine design. There is a fellow in Germany who has a six speed tip-tronic transmission and the Audi V6 to match the transmission in his Double Cab. The under-bed storage chest was made into an engine compartment and the engine compartment was made into an under-bed storage compartment! More cutting and welding than I want to do! Ran into an interesting Westy at the Victoria Home Depot this morning. I noticed dual straight exhaust, and had to go have a look... Peering beneath I noticed not an engine, but a transmission at the rear! A moment later, the owner came out, and I spoke with him about his transplant - a Chev 4.3 V6 and an Audi 5000 trans. I had heard of both of these used in Vanagons before, but not together. The van was about an '85 I'd say, blue with black touch ups, and a very nice tubular steel front bumper with front hitch, for those locals who may have seen this one around... Shawn Wright, I.T.
