Hi Hans,

I had a similar problem in my '86 Westy, for about 5 years. Checked everything in the world and never could find a problem. It just occaisionally (like 3 times a year) wouldn't start. No spark, nothing. Occaisionally, it would die if I was going downhill, throttle closed, for a long time. Sometimes it would immediately start back up, sometimes not. I finally found a broken wire to the Hall sensor, right inside the black bung going into the distributor. Replaced the Hall Sensor, never had a problem afterwards. I'd say pull the Hall sensor out and check the leads with a meter, while bending the wires (carefully) around bung. Good luck,

Keith Hughes '86 Westy TiiCo, Marvin
