Subject: Tiico or not Tiico...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello Listees -

I have 2 Vanagons, one is an '88 Westy(124K- leaky heads / auto) , the other a '90 Carat(100K - new heads / auto). I am getting ready to sell the Westy, but first need to have the inevitable head job done on it.

I was thinking that instead of throwing $1000 away on the bus I am going to sell, why not swap engines (the '90 has good heads) and stick the $$ towards a Tiico conversion on the '90 Carat (which I hope to keep forever).

Since I have never done any work this extensive on a bus, I have no idea if this is a good idea, or if I am getting into a TON of work for a very small payoff. It would mean a much larger initial investment, yes - but maybe a wiser long-term solution (??). The other alternative is to just fix the 88, sell it, and live with the with the old waterboxer in the Carat.

Am I thinking straight here?

thanks for input...

Scott
