I just replaced the wires on the driver's side door of my '89 Westy by doing
just that.  I pulled the wires from the dash to the door but don't see any
reason not to go the other way if you prefer that sort of thing.  Just be
careful not to cut the insulation off the wires as you feed them into the
door.
