I had a GEX rebuilt engine also and ran into some oil pressure problems.  The GEX motor did not come with a new or rebuilt oil pump.  Now mine was a diesel so the rules may be different.  Turned out that my oil pump’s pressure relief valve was stuck.  Replaced the oil pump and problem solved.
