Subject: Extra dome lights, new rear speaker wires
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hey listees,

Thanks to those who responded here and via p-mail (which I finally figured means P-ersonal e-MAIL) about the possible existence of extra dome light holes on the passenger side of the Vanagon.

I was installing new rear speaker wires and decided to wire up the extra dome lights since I would have about the same places open anyway. I found the black plastic blank plates exactly opposite the dome lights where one would expect, on my '84. I ran a set of three wires over from the driver's dome light, and a trio back to the location just behind the side door from there. 3 wires are needed, one for power and two grounds; a door-switched one and a constant ground, so that they will operate like the existing lights. No lights yet, they're waiting at the junkyard.

The speaker wires are run from the deck above the visors, in the previous owner's home-made console. They run to the stock rear speakers, not blown like the front stocks luckily, and another set of wires run from there to 6x9s in the rear seat heater panel, also previous owner additions.

To run the wires I taped them to a long but flexible bamboo stick and fed it through the various openings in the headliner at vents and lights. Really pretty easy, no pulling up carpets and seats like in a car.

Again thanks for the tips.
