Strange thing. I expected the price of Westies to jump when the 2000 year arrived, I also expected the same thing after 9/11 but no jump. Seems that the survivalist have other means of escaping. An acquaintance of mine has several small bore trail bikes that he claims will be the only way out of town if we have universal panic to leave the major cities. I tend to agree with him .............. 6am to 9am in Dallas traffic you can read most of the daily newspaper, not quite as completely as you could on a train or bus but still a lot of time parked. 75% of oil wells in Texas are 'Stripper Wells', meaning that they produce less than 8 barrels of oil each day or less. More oil recovery might be achieved through special expensive techniques but the past prices of $16/$20 a barrel would not support the expensive procedures.
